Board Policy Statement
Royal Roads University affirms the rights of students with a disability to equal access to education. By making reasonable efforts, the University will provide equal opportunity for full participation in the activities of the University community for all academically-qualified students.
Philosophy
Royal Roads University is committed to accommodating the needs of self-identified students with documented disabilities by making reasonable efforts to create a barrierfree learning experience.
Guidelines
To meet the University’s objectives of attracting and retaining excellent students, and providing equal opportunities for academic success and participation in the University community for students with a documented disability, the University will endeavour to:
- Ensure that students with a documented disability are considered for admission to programs for which they are academically qualified
- Modify program delivery and assessment to accommodate disabilities, while maintaining rigorous academic standards
- Make facilities accessible and safe, recognizing the limitations of our location on Hatley Park National Historic Site and the constraints on alterations to heritage buildings
- Foster a supportive University community

It is the responsibility of the President to ensure that students, faculty and staff are made aware of procedures, processes, and resources in place to implement this Policy.Information, Action and Monitoring Requirements for the Board.
