Returning from a Medical Leave of Absence Procedure

Step 1

The student a submits a Return to Study from Medical Leave of Absence form, normally no less than one month before the end of the Medical Leave of Absence, as noted in the letter sent to the student from the Registrar’s Office at the onset of the Medical Leave of Absence.  

Step 2

Accessibility Services verifies the submitted form, and identifies whether or not a Certificate of Accommodations should accompany the student's return to study. This is normally completed within two business days.

Step 3

Accessibility Services sends an E-mail message to the student, program head, program associate, and school manager indicating the student is ready to return to study and a “Return to Study Work Plan”. The program is responsible for formulating learner’s Return to Study Work Plan. The “Return to Study Work Plan” will address how any incomplete course work will be completed, and will present a schedule for the remaining courses not yet begun. The Return to Study Work Plan is subject to approval from the School Director.

Step 4

Upon the School Director's approval of the “Return to Study Work Plan” the program sends an E-mail message to Registration, copied to the student, the program head, appropriate program associate, school manager, school director, the Dean’s Office, and RRU-Student Accounts confirming the student’s return date.
